"PROTECT" now available
Rapid Inflation System (RIS) guarantees sovereign and fast opening

The improvement of the security in flying paragliders is U-Turn´s first concern. Innovations like the AFS or the BFS-System as novel descent assistance, sets benchmarks. This includes the Rapid Inflation System (RIS), which is used in emergency parachutes by U-Turn. U-Turn provides an innovation which guarantees extra fast opening performance and also sets standards with a novel packing system.

The most important feature of a rescue glider is the required opening time. To actualize extremely short time periods, the Rapid Inflation System is applied: The glider uses special bands which cause the canopy and the “basis” not to lie on top of one another but constitute exactly calculated input tension of the air duct. This positively affects the ampleness particularly in the first milliseconds.

As particular bands (right picture: detail view) provides optimal air stream, the innovative rescue Protect (left picture: general view of the opened interior container) also opens at a lower speed level fast and confidently.

Regardless of the rapid opening, the total construction with the large canopy and the RIS in cooporation with the new packing system, simultaneously provides a subdued opening reaction. This is easy on the person and the material, because not only the pilot, but also the harness and the connection parts are exposed to a visible lower maximum breaking load. Even the rescue is less stressed so a repeated usage is admissible.

Using the innovative Paratex fabric, the large area of the rescue glider inflicts very low sinking rates. With all excellent features at hand we still succeeded to build the rescue with the RIS very easily. The manageability was improved by a newly developed packing system. Furthermore, it was very clearly designed and contributes to more safety. A special interior container provides confident opening even at lower speed.

In spite of all the excitement with which we praise the rescue gliders, we obviously hope that you will never need them and agree with Joachim Ringelnatz, who so authentically remarked:“ It is certain, that nothing is certain, and not even that is.“
