World record with A level glider
The experienced Swiss XC pilot Benjamin Becker is the first one who flew a 200 km triangle with an LTF A class wing. With the brand new A class wing Emotion 3 Becker could break the existing record and extend it by more than 40 km.
„Today 200 km would be a great thing“ Becker was joking before taking off. 8 hours and 17 minutes later he had 200 km on the display. Totally happy he flew few km more to be safe over 200km track. The good flight conditions and the sporty A-class wing with its high passive safety made it possible to succeed. With a higher classified wing I wouldn’t have pushed the speedbar that much relaxed in the rough conditions in air at the end of the flight, so Benjamin. He flew the record with an average speed of 25 km/h- the high trim speed of the EMOTION 3 made it possible.
With this record Benjamin proves the great potential of this new A-class wing. The training wing has all the new features and has an extraordinary easy and direct handling. Beside the PPN the 3D shaping ensures a perfect geometry and flow around the leading edge. Elaborate ballooning calculations and so an optimal sail tention gives a perfect sail shape. In addition the HDP cares for a perfect flow along the topsail. The trailing edge has miniribs to have more profile accuracy in particular when applying breakes. The High Pressure Crossport Design (HPCD) cares for the optimal internal pressuring, what increases safety too.
The high safety level of the EMOTION 3 is officially confirmed by the DHV. The Emotion 3 is the newest LTF-A wing which passed the demanding DHV Safety Class Tests with rating 2! The EMOTION 3 is until now the 3rd wing with this classification. The tests focus on high passive safety in demanding situations. The wing offers a unique combination of passive safety and performance and promises even still a lot of fun when training is already long ago.
